Throughout history, citizens of this nation and across the globe have tried to define what makes up the “American spirit.” It can be seen in the Marine fighting in the halls of Montezuma and the shores of Tripoli, the young men storming the beaches of Normandy, the Navy Seal team taking down Bin Laden, and the American women working in factories to help the war effort. It seems that the “American spirit” is called on in times of strife and conflict.
