These Schools Across the US Have Brought Back Mask Mandates

Amid a small increase in COVID-19 hospital admissions in recent days, a handful of schools and colleges across the United States have re-imposed mask mandates—or at least started recommending them.

In the most recent example, a school in Montgomery County, Maryland, announced it would mandate masking for at least 10 days after three students tested positive for the virus in one classroom. The masking rule applies to students, teachers, and other staff in the classroom, it said.

A letter posted by the  Rosemary Hills School online said that KN95 masks have been distributed to students and teachers in the classroom. At-home rapid testing kits were also sent home.

‘FDA Is Not a Physician’: Appeals Court Sides With Doctors on Ivermectin for COVID-19

A federal appeals court in New Orleans ruled on Friday that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had overstepped its authority in their ruling that three doctors will be able to move forward with their lawsuit over the use of ivermectin off-label to treat COVID-19.

Dr. Mary Talley Bowden, one of three doctors who initially filed the petition, trumpeted the ruling as a victory for not only the truth, but patient rights.

“The FDA misled the public into thinking it has more authority than it does,” Dr. Bowden, a practitioner and founder of Coalition of Health Freedom, told The Epoch Times. “This decision confirms that the FDA is not your doctor and has no authority to tell doctors how to practice medicine.”

Tennessee District Attorney Blocked From Enforcing State Law Shielding Kids From Explicit Performances

A federal judge blocked a Tennessee district attorney from enforcing the state’s law shielding children from sexually explicit performances ahead of a “Pride” event after he was sued by the American Civil Liberties Union.

The judge’s ruling comes after the ACLU filed a lawsuit this week against Blount County DA Ryan Desmond, who sent a letter to Blount County Pride saying that any explicit performances in front of children would not be allowed at a “Pride” event on September 2 just south of Knoxville. Video has emerged from “Pride” events across the country of explicit drag performances with children present and looking on.

FDA, CDC Hid Data on Spike in COVID Cases Among the Vaccinated: Documents

COVID-19 cases among vaccinated seniors soared in 2021, according to newly disclosed data that was acquired by U.S. health agencies but wasn’t presented to the public.

Humetrix Cloud Services was contracted by the U.S. military to analyze vaccine data. The company performed a fresh analysis as authorities considered in 2021 whether COVID-19 vaccine boosters were necessary amid studies finding waning vaccine effectiveness.

Humetrix researchers found that the proportion of total COVID-19 cases among the seniors was increasingly comprised of vaccinated people, according to the newly disclosed documents.

Maryland public elementary school reinstates COVID mask requirements, orders some kids to wear N95 masks

An elementary school in a Washington, D.C., suburb in Maryland is reinstating school masks for some students after a handful of kids recently tested positive for COVID-19, according to a letter posted on social media. In the now-viral X post, OutKick founder Clay Travis posted a letter purportedly sent to some parents at Rosemary Hills Elementary School in Montgomery County, updating them on updated mask requirements for their children after some kids in one class tested positive. While Travis wrote that the mask rules were intended for third-graders, the school serves children in pre-kindergarten through second grade, according to its website.

Biden Brings Masking Back To The White House

In April, President Joe Biden seemed to make clear on his promise to “shut down the virus,” and despite 197 Democrats in the House and 23 in the Senate voting against it, Congress passed an end to the emergency measures put in place by Donald Trump during the pandemic.

While he has patted himself on the back, it turns out that Biden couldn’t even shut down the virus in his own house, and, unsurprisingly, masks are now back at the White House.

Public Resistance Might Stop the Next Lockdown

Commentary

We grew up in a country in which we generally assumed there to be some feedback mechanism between public opinion and the behavior of governments. It was never perfect, but we all assumed it was there. If policies were bad, the reason was traced to public ignorance. If policies improved, it's because public opinion shifted in a good direction.

Every politician in my lifetime has claimed to know what the American people want and promised to deliver their wishes. That's how it's supposed to work in democratic societies. Governments are responsive to the priorities of the public mind within the framework of settled law. The purpose of the political parties is to argue about what vision most respects the people.

Judge halts California Chino Valley school district's transgender policy amid state lawsuit

A California judge has issued a temporary restraining order on what Attorney General Rob Bonta calls Chino Valley Unified School District Board of Education’s "forced outing policy." The policy would require schools to inform parents if a student requests to use a name or pronoun different from the gender listed on their official records.

"The concern is how do we safeguard these students that identify as LGBTQ, and in my view, it's a situation that is singling out a class of protected individuals differently than the rest of the students," said Judge Thomas Garza in an oral ruling. He issued the restraining order out of an "abundance of caution."

Orange Unified board approves parental notification when a student identifies as transgender

The Orange Unified school board Thursday night became the sixth California school system to require notifying parents when their child identifies as transgender — a decision made after state Atty. Gen. Rob Bonta filed a lawsuit against Chino schools over a similar policy.

The vote came at the end of a long and contentious board meeting at which dozens of speakers, including many from outside the school system, testified emotionally for or against the board resolution.

The 4-0 vote came about 11:30 p.m., after three board members opposed to the measure walked out. Their exit followed a boardroom disruption started by opponents of the resolution in the audience. It turned into a shouting match between opposing sides and a brief scuffle. Most of the yelling came from resolution supporters.

Officers ushered the opposition protesters — members of the Revolutionary Communist Party, one of whom was shouting into a megaphone — out of the meeting hall.
