Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified will consider a parental notification policy
Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District is the next California district to discuss a parental notification policy.
While several districts in California have adopted in recent months policies to inform parents if their child may be transgender, the PYLUSD proposal — as it’s written for the Tuesday, Oct. 10 meeting — does not specifically mention gender identity.
As the policy is written, a designated school counselor would notify a student’s family within 24 hours if they have a “reasonable cause to believe that an action of a student will avert a clear and present danger to the health, safety, or welfare of the student and others around them.”

Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrests Spiked in 2021, Study Finds
Cardiac arrests that happened outside of hospitals spiked in 2021, according to a new U.S. study.
Out-of-hospital cardiac arrests were higher after the COVID-19 pandemic than before the pandemic, U.S. researchers found.
They analyzed data from Seattle and King County in Washington state from the years 2018 to 2021. The dataset consisted of 13,081 patients, including 7,102 who were dead when emergency responders arrived and another 4,952 who were treated but died ahead of hospitalization or in the hospital.

‘Victory!’ New York State Supreme Court Upholds Ruling That Struck Down COVID Vaccine Mandate for Health Workers
A January ruling by the New York State Supreme Court that struck down the state’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate for healthcare workers will stand, after the Supreme Court Appellate Division, Fourth Department, late last week dismissed an appeal by the state.
“The appeal is dismissed, the mandate is over and Judge [Gerard J.] Neri’s decision stands,” said Sujata Gibson, attorney for the plaintiffs. “This was an important victory. While it does not make healthcare workers whole, it does protect us from future overreach by the executive branch.”

FDA Has Results of Subclinical Myocarditis Studies, but Won't Release Them Yet
'I really don’t think FDA has a leg to stand on here,' former FDA officer says.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has received results from two studies of subclinical heart inflammation following Moderna COVID-19 vaccination, but is refusing to release them to the public—at least for now.
FDA officials in January 2022 directed Moderna to run three prospective studies on subclinical myocarditis, or heart inflammation without symptoms, after COVID-19 booster vaccination. One study, mRNA-1273-P204, would examine the incidence of subclinical myocarditis in children aged 6 months through 11 years. Another, mRNA-1273-P203, would examine the incidence in adolescents aged 12 years through 17 years. The third, mRNA-1273-P301, would examine the incidence in adults.

COVID-19 Vaccines 'May Trigger' Rheumatic Inflammatory Diseases: Study
On average, patients developed rheumatic diseases 11 days after vaccine administration, according to the study.
A new review suggests that COVID vaccines "may trigger" rheumatic immune-mediated inflammatory diseases, including arthritis, vasculitis, lupus, and adult-onset Still's disease.
On average, patients developed rheumatic diseases 11 days after vaccine administration, according to the study. Seventy-five (over 27 percent) of these patients experienced total disease remission, and about 50 percent improved following treatment. Eight were admitted to intensive care, and two died from their symptoms.
"The short time span between COVID-19 vaccine administration and the onset of R-IMIDs suggests the potential possibility of a cause-and-effect relationship," the authors wrote.

‘Probably the Most Important Topic of Our Time’: DNA Contaminants in COVID Shots Can Trigger Cancer, Alter Human Genome
A World Council for Health panel of international scientists revealed that COVID-19 mRNA vaccines are contaminated with plasmid DNA from the manufacturing process. This not only can cause inflammation and cancers but can damage DNA, perhaps even pass genetic alterations to children. Experts say regulators ignored the risks and urge a recall of all mRNA vaccines.
The World Council for Health on Monday convened an international panel of scientists and medical experts to discuss recent revelations that COVID-19 mRNA vaccines are contaminated with bacterial DNA plasmids that can harm human health.
Describing the findings as “probably the most important topic of our time,” the panelists addressed “#PlasmidGate” and its implications “for all people of the world.”
The hearing addressed the discovery of bacterial DNA left over from the microscopic plasmids used for multiplying DNA in the mRNA vaccine manufacturing process. One of the gene therapy tools discovered in COVID-19 vaccines is SV40, which is known to be cancer-promoting.
